our customer was saying his car wasn't going into gear and often wouldn't go into the proper gear.
finding out why is more than just having to fix the problem.
because of the force load put on the shift lever from the air shifter being a quick sudden jerk it puts a hard force load on the pinch bolt of the shaft lever.
the fix to stop the bolt from backing out is to safety wire the bolt to the shift lever. this plus using a longer bolt with a nylon locking nut should remedy the bolt from losing up.
I couldn't find the proper length bolt with the proper length shoulder with a hole in it for safety wiring.
so I had to drill a hole in the head of the 8.8 bolt along with the shift lever.

Were the issues with the upshift or downshift? I've been having trouble myself with upshifting from 3 to 4 and 4 to 5. The engine goes to the rev limiter, but the paddle input is not followed by a shift. It usually takes several attempts on the paddle to effect the change. Also, sometimes, but not as much as with the upshift, the downshift will present a similar situation from 4 to 3 and 3 to 2.

with this car being the shift lever in the pick was not clamped on tight enough the splines were not grabbing the shaft coming out of the engine as tight as needed. so the shaft lever would only catch every so often. some time not at all other times it would but get a faults neutral or things like you go to up shift and jump the splines and then catch the splines and down shift or vice a versa .
