I have been debating this for a wile now. At LRP my lap times are faster than the cars in P2 and equal to the fastest car in P1.
this is with a bone stock SPEC Rush car still using the stock Rush suspension settings and on the 100 TW tires.
sadly NASA NE only has a few events a season and they do not do much for W2W racing it's more of a focus on DE and TT.
the last time I talked with the powers to be at NASA NE they are saying they may be interested in a spec rush TT class more than a W2W class.
in the north east SCCA is so rooted that it seams to be the only way to go W2W racing.
this leaves me thinking with some suspension changes and running a full slick and a few other things that the rush car would be a front runner in P2 .
my old DSR is faster than the two cars shown that run commonly in P2 and the Rush car is faster than my old DSR is.

Unfortunately, the Rush is a P1 car in SCCA. Paddle shift is forbidden in P2 (highlight added by me)

9.1.8.J.4 Shift operation: all gear changes must be initiated and completed by the driver. Only mechanical gear shifting mechanisms are allowed except as permitted by Table 1 Spec Line Cars. This may include cables, rods, or other mechanical linkage systems. Assisted shifting of any kind is not allowed on any car except as allowed by Table 1 Spec Line Cars. Any other assisted shifting mechanisms are specifically not allowed. This prohibition is intended to eliminate the use of electric solenoid shifters, airshifters and other devices not mechanically actuated and controlled completely by the driver. Devices that allow pre-selected gear changes and closed-loop systems that use feedback from sensors to vary the timing of the gear selection process are also prohibited. Devices that interact with the throttle, ignition, or fuel system during a shift operation (for example: ignitions cuts, flat shifters, blippers) are permitted, but no such devices shall remove the driver’s control of the gear change initiation, gear selection or completion. The burden of proving that a device is in compliance with this rule shall be upon the participant and/or entrant of the car.

yes I know. that's why I had to removed the rill tech shift system out of my old DSR.
I'm talking with SCCA about some things to maybe get the rush cars in the spec trim with a R7 tire into P2. if they say no it's a P1 car only than it is what it is.
in one of our conversations with the New England regional director we both agreed the P classes are getting smaller. I used to run in DSR and the field was twice the size. we used to have 5 to 7 cars in DSR now in P2 you get maybe at most 3 cars and for P1 your looking at 1 and 3 at most.

Yup. I'm entered in the Majors race at HPR next weekend and I'm the only P car, and currently only three cars in my group. I'll probably switch over to time trials since it's identical track time, more cars on track to play with and half the entry fee 🤷‍♂️

at this time I'm not looking to change the SCCA national rule for P2 just the NER rule to let the Rush cars run in spec trim.
the P2 cars are old and long in the tooth now parts are getting harder to find .
the Rush car comparing times at the tracks in the New England region to the P class cars in spec trim I'm faster or pretty equal to both P1 and P2 cars.
for P1 with out doing some major body work changes to get wider tires on the the car and wider tires leads to suspension changes suspension changes leads to more power and it jut keeps snow balling until the rush car is no longer a rush car. I went thru this with my DSR taking a 50K car dumping another 50K into it then SCCA changed things up getting rid of DSR class. now it's a car that's back to a floor shifter not really any slower than it was with paddles but they no longer produce the cars so parts are not available.
