Haul 5 SRs and stay under CDL - Aluminum Gooseneck Trailer

Thats a great rig!

A few notes from our searches:
  1. The Lift of Choice Seems to be Stinger Trailer Lifts
  2. The Lower Deck will need to be 35' Long to comfortably fit 3 cars without removing the clams.
  3. The Interior Height needs to be 8' to allow clearance
  4. We easily fill the nose of our trailer with Tools, VP Cans and Gear and No Tires or Wheels. Having (2) cars up and one down would allow for more room.
  5. Our 44' Steel Trailer with (3) Rush Cars, Tools, Spares, (3) Spare Sets of Wheels and Tires, (4) Sets of Tires.... and a 3500 Ram weighs 26,000 on the nose. With GT cars we are nearly 30,000#.

How-To: Configure Your Smartycam - Throttle, Brake, Overlays and More!

I think we are doing the same thing, but in different ways. You can do the dash math to make percent and set the bar graph maximum in the camera to 100 or you can just send pressure and set the max to the max pressure you can achieve. Both ways show the same thing on the video, but the second way doesn't take more work in the dash.

I can share some data from Mont Tremblant that really shows the braking efficiency differences with hills. Chris Brown also has some great info on it in his book "Making Sense of Squiggly Lines."

Less pedal/system pressure would be needed in certain tracks / track areas, which is what I believe you're referring to - but the overlay max should still be the max pressure you can possibly actually generate in the system; which means it's going to vary person to person (strength) and will display effort vs max potential effort. The overlay is irrelevant if you're actually looking at psi in the data/graphs since it is generating a line output and the max doesnt matter.

Rush SR @ Barber Motorsports Park

.xrk file off the dash?

Here's mine from Barber 1:37.898.

Let me know if that file isn't working......
No sir, Its a case of a defective smarty cam box. I've spoken to AIM about this and there is not much i can do. Going to get a new SmartyCam in there at some point for better quality video and the ability to finally show you all some lap times lol.

High Plains Raceway

Thank you for the feedback Bill.
Those will be the things I work on at my next track day.
It definitely taking some getting used to not going under 9000 RPMs.
And I don’t think I used 1st gear even once on the track.
With those two things I think I could get under 2:00!

Having more then enough stopping power is one thing, having the balls to brake so late is another thing 😂 😂 still working on it
Stoked to see you having fun. regarding late braking...we sell those too if testicular fortitude is lacking!

Rush Series Rulebook mumblings

Yeah, I found it last night. Rules are very simple, and I don't think that's a bad thing.

You can't change springs, but you can tune shocks and differentials, which is interesting.

Shock and diff tuning is sometimes black magic and beyond the scope of most gear heads even.

I change springs on my full bodied E46 M3 endurance car, but have never tried to revalve the struts....

But the Rush seems a great platform to learn that.

I'm definitely interested in spec racing this thing, but I also want to dominate my local hill climbs.... And that's going to require me to take the car in and out of 'spec' based on what I'm doing that weekend.

How-To: Export a lap video from RaceStudio 3

If you want to export just a single lap from your video, you can of course use just about any software to do this from the raw file. But RaceStudio3 will also do it for you and cut it perfectly lap by lap. To do this, make sure the "Data-Movies" layout is visible on the right while you're looking at your session. It's the highlighted icon in red. You'll know it is active when you see the video inside RaceStudio 3 on the right.

Then, click the scissors to clip the selected lap. A dialog will appear for you to name the file.

That's it - easy as it gets!

Smartycam Noob

I installed the SD card into the SmartyCam controller, and confirmed that the card was recognized. I was able to see video input from the camera. I confirmed that the auto on feature was set to trigger at 20 mph. Not able to drive the car since it is in my trailer. My next track day is tentatively August 5, so I’ll see how it goes.

Thanks for the replies.

you drive this track much different than I do and instruct/coach our renters to do.
things like from turn 10 to 12 your off throttle and your even doing your down shifting I'm on the throttle right until 11 at 11 I brake heading right at the work station go in a little deeper then do my turn in and start getting right back on the throttle. the gears I'm in are also different from what your in. I also rev the living hell out of the engines they don't start to live until your over 10K. I also open up turn 4 lots more staying more to the left coming into it. I hear it's not as fast but our data shows it's faster as when you can open up a corner like that more you carry more speed. I think the people saying to be mid track at turn in for 4 have not really just looked at the data right at 4 or must have high HP / Torque cars?
your also braking lots more longer and harder than we do.

New member, SR on order!

Will you be running at sebring? What groups do you usually run with?
Hi John,
I have been with Mark and Chin there many times and have been with Track Guys there but it’s been years since they have had an event in FL.
I will be running Sebring, but won’t be able to commit to an event till Fall, November-December. A few friends are
Planning on meeting up there with Chin in November and that will be the earliest I will be able to attend.
Looks like the build will be up for us in July and then I am working in NY and will have to run down to pick up the car and of course going to do our first day of break in at HSR.
I am in group 3 in NASA as well and will hopefully advance to group 4 early next year and then the race license. I have done some time trials in the Shelby’s but as I stated this will be our first race car so all the input and knowledge is invaluable. Thank you!

Had some fun shooting pics with some friends this weekend! check them out, what do you all think?

I think it's amazing how the SR looks.. you can really see how small the car is!

How-To: Create Custom AiM Dash Layouts

Great idea to share layouts etc. This is our race dash layout we use for all the Turn 17 Cars, super simple with just the pertinent information. We load up 3 pages on all our dashes, with a diagnostic like that shared by Sam and another more 'Road' type dash. Most guys just leave it on Race most of the time.

Steven, is the "+- Ref. Time" pre-set or you have to create a specific channel for that?

I would love to have that and I don't recall seeing that. Predictive Time kinda does the same thing but i'll rather use +- ref time.
